Cold JetŪ LLC, 455 Wards Corner Road, Loveland, Ohio 45140

RESC members and their guests toured Cold JetŪ LLC, 455 Wards Corner Road, Loveland, Ohio 45140   Ph 513-831-3211

COLD JET LLCOn December 2, 2009, Fred C. Young, V.P. of Engineered Systems; Tony R. Lehnig, Director of New Product Development; and Jamie Churchill, Marketing Communications, provided an excellent technical presentation and demonstration of their Dry Ice Blasting technology. RESC board of directors and members wish to thank Cold JetŪ LLC for their hospitality, outstanding presentation and demonstration of this emerging technology.

No surprise to anyone was the considerable amount of technology and innovation required to successfully propel, at high velocity, dry ice pellets toward an object. An idea first pursued by the military many years ago, the use of dry ice as a projectile was considered in weapon development and eventually abandoned. Evolution of the technology over time has allowed Cold JetŪ LLC to participate in an emerging and leading edge solution to many difficult cleaning applications. Instead of using hard abrasive media to grind on a surface (and damage it), dry ice blasting uses soft dry ice, accelerated at supersonic speeds, and creates mini-explosions (on impact expands X 800) on the surface to lift the undesirable item off the underlying substrate. Cold JetŪ has continually improved this technology over the past 20 years and is the world leader in Dry Ice Blasting.

Typical industries served are: Automotive, Contract Cleaning, Disaster (and Mold) Remediation, Food and Packaging, Foundry, General Maintenance, Historical Restoration, Medical Device Manufacturing, Plastics,
Power Generation, Printing, Rubber, Weld-Line Cleaning and Wood.

A testament to the success of this technology is when the ROI is measured in weeks and months rather than years. If you are unfamiliar with this technology, we strongly encourage you to give it a "Look-See"You will not be disappointed!

Some of the many advantages of Dry Ice Blasting are:
Dry ice is an approved medium by the EPA, USDA & FDA, and is non-toxic, non-hazardous and inhibits mold & bacteria growth
Dry ice blasting has been effectively used in EPA, USDA, FDA, AIB and GFSI inspected/certified facilities
Dry ice blasting is safe to use with food processing equipment
Dry ice blasting does not release harmful gases into the atmosphere
Dry ice blasting does not generate secondary waste
Dry ice blasting is safe and non-toxic (once particles impact the surface they dissipate into the atmosphere)
Dry ice blasting reduces or eliminates employee exposure to (and corporate liability from) the use of dangerous chemical cleaning agents

In addition to being clean and safe, it is also important to remember that dry ice is obtained as a byproduct of other industrial processes - i.e. it is made from reclaimed CO2. It does not produce CO2 or add CO2 to the atmosphere and therefore does not contribute to the greenhouse effect.
